I know I’m very late to the party with this review of Ghostbusters Afterlife, but after watching it recently, I really thought it deserved mention on the site.
Afterlife helps us get over the disappointment of the 2016 Ghostbusters Revamp
The 2016 Ghostbusters reboot was met with a lot of skepticism. Diehard fans were worried that the all-female leads would ruin their childhood memories. But when the trailers finally dropped, it looked like the movie might actually be good. Fast-forward to its release, and the reviews were mixed at best.
While some Critics praised the cast’s performances, others called the film “a complete mess.” But one thing everyone could agree on was that it was a disappointment compared to the original Ghostbusters. Thankfully, we can take solace in the fact that there’s an afterlife – well a Ghostbusters Afterlife, anyways!
Ghostbusters Afterlife – Back to the Roots
The movie is funny, action-packed, and filled with great special effects. The story is not really that original as it brings back some of the most iconic characters from the original films, but the new cast does a great job in bringing their own spin to these characters. Paul Rudd who we all know and love from the MCU is especially hilarious as the new Ghostbusters leader, while Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd make cameos that will surely please long-time fans of the franchise.
The movie is a blast from start to finish. It’s an homage to ’80s action movies, and it knows exactly what it’s doing. If you’re looking for a smart, thought-provoking film, this isn’t it, but if you’re looking for a good laugh, some great action, and some fantastic special effects, this movie is definitely worth checking out!
Bill Murray cameo appearance cannot be discounted
When Bill Murray makes a cameo appearance in a movie, you know it will be good. And when he makes a cameo in Ghostbusters Afterlife, it’s the best thing there. He’s funny, happy and just plain old awesome.
The scene he’s in is hilarious and his performance is spot-on. It’s just one more reason to see this movie.
The special effects are decent
Yes, the special effects in Ghostbusters Afterlife are good, and they’re used to good effect, too. While there is nothing earth-shattering or new in the effects, they definitely have a nostalgic feel to them. The hounds of Gozer, for example, could be done better with modern effects, but they went ahead and used the old ones.
In Closing
Afterlife is a triumphant return to form for the Ghostbusters franchise. The story picks up years after the events of the original films, following a new generation of Ghostbusters as they attempt to uncover the secrets of the paranormal world. While the film does have its fair share of scares, it also contains a great deal of heart and humor.
The cast is excellent, with each actor bringing their own unique energy to the role. The visuals are impressively detailed, and the action sequences are thrilling. Overall, Afterlife is an excellent addition to the Ghostbusters franchise that is sure to delight fans old and new.
So, should you see Ghostbusters Afterlife? Absolutely! It’s a fun movie with great action, fantastic special effects, and a hilarious Bill Murray cameo. What more could you ask for?
